Schweizer Mustang
Pristine P-51 Mustang of J-901 Evaluationexemplar (fighter evaluation) squadron, Schweizer Flugwaffe (Swiss Air Force), early-1950s. Switzerland maintained strict neutrality during World War 2, and defended her air space against both encroaching German and American aircrafts.
The Swiss interned a motley crew of foreign aircrafts during the war, from rudimentary US Piper Cub observation plane to advanced German Me-110G radar-equipped night fighter.
With war's end, Swiss purchased surplus batch P-51 fighters from Sweden and evaluated its performance to fully equip her fighter squadrons.
1.48 1990s-era Revell Mustang model kit, entire plane spray painted metallic, weathered with black enamel. Swiss national markings were custom designed, red area airbrushed with red acrylic, white cross decal came from World War 2 Hungarian air force insignia (they used white cross on black square, contrasted with Swiss using white cross on red square).
Two notable Swiss events during the war were Allied bombing of northern swiss city of Schaffhausen, and internment of German Me-110 night fighter with latest aerial interdiction avionics.
