Multitude of German formations were destroyed during their mass retreat, resulting in collapse of German Army Group Center, thus enabled Soviets to encircle German forces in northern Baltic Kurland region, and launch offensive against Axis oil fields in Romania.

Incessant debate continues to this day over which power really won World War II, be it western Allies via Normandy D-Day invasion or Soviet Bagration offensive.
