However, after successfully destroying the Federation fleet at Worf 359 battle (along with abduction of USS Enterprise Captain Picard), various Federation technology and personnel were captured, including nanotechnology.
From that point onward, Borg assimilated captured populace by injecting nanoprobes directly into prisoners, thereby rapidly transforming their minds into automatons and bodies to seamlessly integrate Borg hardware augmentations.
