AnLoc Cobra AH-1 | Eastern Offensive, South Vietnam 1972

AH-1G Cobra attack helicopter of US Army 7th Battery - 79th Aerial Field Artillery "Blue Max" - 1st Calvary Division (Airmobile) during 1972 North Vietnam Army "Easter Offensive" battles around An Loc city - South Vietnam, circa 70 miles north of Saigon.

Model and markings replicate Cobra crewed by Capt. Mike Brown (pilot) & Capt. Marco Cordon (weapons officer/gunner) when their chopper was hit by enemy SA-7 missile on 21 June 1972.

Enemy missile hit severed the tail boom & rotor, forcing a controlled crash-landing from 4,500-foot spiral drop. Both men survived the crash (being first chopper crew to survive surface-to-air missile strike) and the war, going on to live quiet dignified state-side retirements.

Uwe,

My name is Mike Brown. I was the pilot of the AH-1G Cobra which you have apparently modeled. Marco Cordon was my co-pilot. He and I remain good friends, and we talk with each other several times per year.

I would be interested in talking with you about matters of mutual interest. I would certainly like to discuss how I might proceed to acquire a model of Cobra #725.

The pictures of the model are beautiful.

Thank you very much,

Mike Brown
